In case of: monitoring of Landslides, unstable scope, dams, bulkheads, excavation and embankments; OTR suggest inclinometric casing.

Inclinometric casing are installed inside survey holes and are used to monitor a lateral displacement caused by a landslide cut. They are usefull to report rock masses or structure displacement. They are installed horizzontaly too allowing to reveal the measures of the in-place subsidence.

Casing is usually made up by a 3m pipes, they should be in alluminium or ABS, with different diameters. Derived by the enviroment conditions will be prefered a type of diameter or a type of material due to the necessity of the worksite. Casings are gifted of 4 grooves every 90° of the tube, that allows to drive and direct the probe with a steady azimuth angle.

How to instal the inclinometric casings?

Pipe is preassembled in worksite in pieces of 6m, except the last on which have to finish with a joint linked to the injection tube. This one will be fixed at the first piece dropped inside the hole for the injection of the cavity. In case of welded holes, the casing too will be filled with liquid, usually thicker than the on site one, to avoid the undere hydrostatic thrust. After that is dropped the second piece taking care to insert it inside the downside sleeve trying to make the two pipes adhere as much as possible. The pipe must be drilled and nailed with rivets. From now is important to avoid the transmission of every twisting movement to the casing. The joints are sealed with the special mastic and after ten minuts everything is cover with scotch tape. Pieces will be dropped till the leak of the last 40cm of tube. After 7/10 days will be readout the blank to verify the perpendicularity of the inclinometric casing. The tube have to be less inclined than the 1.5% of the lenght.
